Dickenson’s sweeping device caught on as a gift from husband to wife and by the early 1800s, he and his son were manufacturing hundreds of brooms each year. One can only wonder if, 100 years later, when a farmer from Denmark, A.P. Pedersen founded Skive Børstefabrik (Danish for Skive Brush Factory), if he intended to gift his wife with the utensil.
