The Best Mops to Use for Professional Cleaners
Although the basic floor-cleaning function of mops has been used in various ways ever since there was a smooth floor to clean, it wasn’t until June 1893, that the wringing mop was invented. African-American inventor, Thomas W. Stewart was issued a patent for officially inventing this humble floor-cleaning device. This was notarised as both a huge step forward in America’s social history as well as in the evolution of cleaning utensils.
Mr Stewart’s mopping utensil sufficed worldwide until, in 1950, brothers Peter and Stewart Vosbikian developed and patented sponge mops. This utensil used a flat strip of metal activated by a lever that rinsed and squeezed the sponge dry between applications. Not only did this invention eliminate the need to wring mops manually but, it also enhanced efficiency and workplace hygiene.
During the mid-1970s, the Japanese developed a light, durable material for ladies swimwear. Despite their best intentions, this invention failed dismally. Although it was lightweight, pleasing on the eye and comfortable to wear, it turned out to be super absorbent and when wet, retained water, making it extremely heavy and very uncomfortable. By the early 1990s, inventors in Sweden used a version of this extraordinary tissue and began marketing it as the first microfiber. Following this development, European scientists refined the fabric and began trading the newly developed microfiber as cleaning cloths and mops in the professional cleaning sector in the early 2000s.
One Small Step for Man
The sum of these three evolutionary inventions has successfully resulted in a giant leap forward for humankind. When it comes to the best mops to use for professional cleaners, all three of these individual patents still have very important roles to play, even in today’s modern society.
Modern mops still retain a few of the initial designs of these three innovative inventions, and without them, our mops today would still be in the dark ages. However, there are only a select few that qualify to be the best mops to use for professional cleaners.
